Becoming a local governor
Some governors are elected by parents and staff, others are nominated by the local governing committee for approval by the trust board or co-opted directly by the local governing committee. The role is voluntary although individuals are entitled to claim expenses in line with the trust's Director and Local Governor Expenses Policy.
#JoinThe250k is a national campaign from Inspiring Governance aiming to attract people to volunteer as school governors or trustees. You can watch their film which features young people explaining the benefits of being a governor/trustee, challenging myths about who can govern and sharing how to get involved.
