Message for Y6 parents from Jesmond Park Academy.
This year, due to the ongoing challenges and restrictions on gatherings resulting from Coronavirus, Jesmond Park Academy will be having a pre-prepared Year 6 virtual open event. This will include resources that parents will be able to access through the school website from Thursday 15th October onwards. We will be delivering prospectuses to our primary schools over the coming weeks to give out to Year 6 children in time for the resources going onto the school website. There is a news item for parents and carers on our school website with further information and any further updates will also appear there.
Have you seen our school video from staff? Have look at the messages they wanted to send to all the children, families and friends of Walkergate.
Welcome to Walkergate Community School website
We are a large primary school based on 2 sites in the east end of Newcastle. The school is part of NEAT mixed multi Academy Trust (NEAT). There is a link to the NEAT website on the menu above. The school was awarded teaching school status in July 2017 and a Research School in 2019. In this role we work with a number of schools to share good practice and research based CPD to develop the expertise and skills of teachers across the city. Our school motto is ‘Together we make a difference’.
Our staff are dedicated to working with children, parents and families to ensure that all Walkergate children achieve their very best in everything they do in a safe, happy and nurturing environment. Staff regularly go the extra mile to support our children and families. In our recent inspection, children told the OFSTED team 'that staff are always ‘looking after [them] and looking out for [them]’ The school is popular in the local area and we are lucky to have generations of families coming through school which helps to create the real sense of community which we have.
We are a restorative practice school which underpins our behaviour management, encouraging all children to take responsibility for their learning and behaviour. All adults in school have high expectations of our children in both their behaviour and learning. We have 3 core values which we promote and celebrate. They are: Responsibility, Respect and Resilience. In our recent OFSTED we were graded as a good school. OFSTED reported "Pupils’ behaviour and attitudes are very positive in lessons". Visitors to our school always comment on the calm atmosphere and how polite and friendly our children are.
There is a free breakfast club on both sites for children in reception and years 1 – 6. After school we offer a range of clubs for years 1 – 6 which are always popular and school participates in a wide range of sporting activities and competitions.
You can find out more about our curriculum, enrichment opportunities and after school activities by browsing through our website. We hope that you can find the information you require on our website but if not please contact us via email at:- email@example.com
Thank you for taking the time to visit our website.

At Walkergate Community School we recognise the diversity of experience and learning that each child brings to school. We build upon this is to give the children the skills, enjoyment, learning and knowledge they need for the future.
We aim to provide experiences and opportunities for learning that are rich and rewarding, where success is celebrated and children are encouraged to become confident lifelong learners.
Look at these fabulous books!
We would like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Shazad from nursery, and her family, for donating these lovely books for the children in our nursery class. If nursery parents have collected your pack today, I hope you have enjoyed reading the book with your child. Mrs Shazad's family are celebrating Ramadan in lockdown and wanted to do something to help our community. They decided that a book for each of the children was a lovely way to celebrate in the current situation. We wish Mrs Shazad and her family peace and happiness this Ramadan.
We have loved our work on Matisse: non-chronological reports and some stunning artwork.
Lovely big bright bold colours from Year 3 this afternoon.
Year 3 ‘painting with scissors’ in the style of Henri Matisse.
Year 1 enjoyed investigating floating and sinking this week
